Operating efficiency is an important concern in electroplating. Which factors affect equipment efficiency during actual operation?
The electroplating equipment comprises a tank, contaminant filter and agitator. The tank stands on a frame with a sealed lid. Several negative electrode rods and workpieces extend down through the lid into the tank.
The electroplating tank contains plating solution. The negative electrode rod and lower end of the workpiece are immersed. A row of agitators has blades in the solution and drives fixed to the frame.
One end of the electroplating tank connects to a suction pipe with a check valve. The other end connects to the lower part of a contaminant filter; the filter connects to a pump, whose outlet returns through a drain pipe to the tank. A pump support is fixed outside the tank.
Electroplating equipment can run continuously and automatically, with filtering, washing and dewatering functions. A clean working area facilitates inspection and maintenance.
Many factors affect chromium plating quality. What influences the results?
1. Substrate roughness before plating: a smoother substrate results in a smoother plated surface.Pending confirmation
2. Plating-bath temperature: a high-temperature bath results in greater surface roughness.Pending confirmation
3. Current density: higher current density produces greater post-plating surface roughness.Pending confirmation
4. Plating-bath concentration: higher concentration produces greater post-plating surface roughness.Pending confirmation
5. Plating time: longer plating produces greater surface roughness.Pending confirmation
